Mule

Ka-Bar
This heavy duty piece of equipment is the folding knife's answer to the traditional KA-BAR fixed blade. Sturdy construction and pure heft ensure this knife will withstand any test you dare put it through. The clip blade is a classic shape and very practical. Its name describes a shape that seems to have a portion of the spine of the blade clipped off. This brings the blade point lower for extra control and enhances the sharpness of the tip. It provides ample "belly" in the blade for slicing or skinning and a good tip for inserting in and under things that need to be cut. You will often find a false edge with the clip point. A Japanese made medium-carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance. Folding knife that has a lock release on the back of the handle. The ground surface of the blade is concave and used to create a fine cutting edge. Harpy

Spyderco
Like the claw of the Harpy eagle the C08 is shaped for controlled pulling cuts. The hawkbill blade shape originated in the marine/fishing industry where severing rope, line, webbing and netting is done at arm's length quickly and efficiently. The curving arc holds what you're cutting against the sharpened edge keeping it from slipping off the tip. Custom knifemaker David Boye developed the dent in the locking lever, which insures the blade remains securely locked open when gripping the handle with force. Cut out of the handle is a shackle key/drying vent allowing air to circulate around the blade when closed wet. Metal clip is positioned for tip down carry.

K.I.S.S

Columbia River
The ingenuity of the K.I.S.S. frame lock design is that the secure, safe and strong blade lock serves not only as part of the frame, but also as the handle itself. A thumb stud is used to one-hand open the blade, and as the blade is fully rotated open, the frame lock snaps crisply in behind the blade to guarantee a sound lock up. The blade can be closed with one hand by simply releasing the frame lock. The blade shape is tanto inspired chisel point on the front and flat on the backside so that when the blade is closed onto its handle/frame, the precision fit effectively seals the cutting edge to the frame, even though it's exposed.
